The Lucky Duck Foundation was formed in 2005 by Pat & Stephanie Kilkenny to raise funds and awareness for numerous charitable causes throughout San Diego.
In 2017, Pat and Stephanie Kilkenny recognized the urgent need for leadership and action to address San Diego’s homelessness crisis, and joined forces with Padres owner Peter Seidler and other credible and effective business leaders to instigate action. They subsequently pivoted the Lucky Duck Foundation’s efforts to focus solely on homelessness and began by purchasing and installing several large industrial tent structures to shelter approximately 500 people nightly.
Since then, the Lucky Duck Foundation raised more than $35 million to fund, activate, and lead numerous efforts designed to immediately and measurably alleviate the suffering of homelessness throughout San Diego County.
